Emmen City Zoo brings people and animals closer together. It is one of the biggest and most beautiful Zoos in the Netherlands. Visitors are given an insight into the daily life of animals from all continents: hippopotami, penguins, elephants, and the large butterfly garden is also an adventure in itself. The City Zoo is split across two locations, which are connected via a pedestrian bridge: the original location in the centre and a new section in the Es. The Yucatan play exhibition opened in 2007; an attraction for children of all ages. Children can play, climb, slide and sail in South-American tree huts, pueblos, a pyramid temple and enormous shipwreck.
